Welcome to the
Youth Information
Web Site!
Sunday evenings are changing! Now we have a running programme of different things every Sunday evening, all running from 7pm to 9pm.
The programme runs from the 2nd Sunday of the month to the 1st Sunday of the next one and it is looking a bit like this:
2nd Sunday - Youth Cafe in the Parish Hall.
A space to hang out, have fun and enjoy some really nice food and drink at fairly cheap prices!
3rd Sunday - Youth Taster in the Parish Hall. A time with some of the cafe style elements but a small amount of teaching on the basics of Christianity and why we believe what we believe.
4th Sunday - Youth Service in St James' Church. A chance to celebrate and worship God together, with some fun and games, with a bit of prayer and teaching thrown in there too!
1st Sunday - Youth "The Deep End" in the Parish Hall. Time to explore in more detail some of the 'big issues' of Christianity, delving further into the Bible and it's relevance for Christians today.

Vision of yoof @ Shirley Parish....
“To be able to be an active member not just to survive but equipped to serve and surf and be effective to serve Christ in any expression of church.
Confidence in our own faith in God, conviction to stand up for that faith, but open to different ways of expressing it"
....and some versions written in YOE!
"To be able to join in and not sit alone in the
corner. Be ready to serve Jesus and ride the
waves. Have more confidence in what you
believe in and your faith. Looking at
different ways of expressing it"
by Simon
"To put forward ideas not just attempting to
get through alone but with the ability to
serve Christ and ride with Him instead of being
tossed about. And have an effective way
of serving God that is your most comfortable
way. To feel confident in your beliefs, and
not be put down by people that don't believe
them, but let other people help you to
express them comfortably"
by Adam
"Do the right thing from the Bible, not what
others tell you to do. Not just believe
but really do something about it!"
by Matthew
"This means to learn about God, not just
go to a group and do nothing. And don't be
shy about telling and showing people how
you feel about God, and not just keep it to
yourself. You grow stronger and closer to
God and know if you want Him in your life
and stand up for your beliefs. You know
what you want and believe and let no one
change that just because they might
have different ideas"
by Stephen
